Can progesterone aid in treating cystitis? There is a notable connection through the mechanism of water retention. Both cystitis and urethritis tend to peak during the premenstrual phase, likely attributed to water retention triggered by elevated estrogen levels, an inflammatory hormone. Hormonal imbalances, often induced by environmental toxins such as 'xeno-estrogens,' are considered a contributing factor to these conditions. Sustaining appropriate progesterone levels is beneficial in alleviating water retention.

Consuming fermented foods and kefir—whether milk or water—serves as outstanding sources of probiotics and aids in reducing inflammation.

A blend of vitamin C and bicarb is effective, with a recommended ratio of 1 part bicarb to 2.75 parts vitamin C. This combination creates a delightful fizzy beverage that should be consumed three times daily until the infection subsides. To prepare, mix 1 teaspoon of bicarb with 2.75 teaspoons of vitamin C, which will yield a full day's supply—refer to the instructions below. Be cautious, as insufficient vitamin C will result in a very bitter taste from the bicarb. Avoid preparing too much at once, as they only react to moisture in the air and won't be effective if mixed excessively.

This mixture has positive results in dealing with these conditions - mix

  • 100ml bicarbonate of soda 
  • 275ml vitamin C powder

Take 5ml ml of the mixture and mix with 1 cup of water 3 times a day until symptoms have gone. Once it has cleared up it is advisable to continue taking it for another 2 to 3 days to make sure that it has cleared up.
