Ingredients in detail:

De-ionized Water - this is an industry standard for water purification.

Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides - This medium-chain triglyceride is derived from fractionated vegetable fatty acids sourced from coconuts. It boasts a colorless appearance, with a neutral scent and flavor, and features a remarkably low viscosity. Its resistance to oxidation is exceptional. Acting as a carrier and transport medium for active ingredients, it efficiently penetrates the skin and is swiftly absorbed. It leaves no greasy residue and aids in moisture retention.

Progesterone Ph. Eur. USP JP - Is derived principally from stigmasterol, a steroidal sapogenin. Phytosterols are chemically similar to cholesterol which is found in animals. Cholesterol is the starting point for the hormones made naturally in animals, including humans. Plants such as the soy bean, Dioscorea species of yams, fenugreek, sisal, calabar bean, some lilies, yucca, some solanum species, maize and many more contain phytosterols, some of which are stigmasterol, diosgenin, sitosterol, campesterol, hecogenin, smilagenin, sarsasapogenin, solasodine. As these sterols have a similar molecular structure to progesterone, they are used as starting points for the synthesis of progesterone. The progesterone used in Natpro is synthesised from the wild yam.

Sodium Olivoil Glutamate - Sodium OLIVOIL Glutamate is a non-ethoxylated, vegetal derived surfactant that combines the unique fatty acid profile of olive oil with the characteristic affinity of glutamic acid toward the skin surface.

The quest for PEG-free emulsifiers led to the creation of new classes of base ingredients, one of which is this skin-friendly and environmentally-friendly Sodium OLIVOIL Glutamate.

This new emulsifier structure provides:

  • high skin compatibility, suitable for sensitive skin as well as babies or children’s skin
  • protecting, soothing and restoring functionality
  • maximum biodegradability according to the CEE regulation N.82/242 OECD Method

As the whole concept of creating a more efficient equilibrium between ones skin and ones body has increased in popularity, we are seeing an increased success with ingredients of natural origin, embracing the concepts of respect for your skin, or skin friendly emulsifiers.

This is due to 2 main aspects:

  • The need for developing formulas as much as possible compatible with the physiology of skin and its annexes, without any adverse effect or allergic potential.
  • The growing confidence of consumers in the beneficial properties provided by complex mixtures of natural ingredients.

Populus Tremuloides - a natural preservative made from non GM aspen trees. ‘Aspen bark extract’ as such is a unique discovery, as it is an effective natural replacement for commonly used harmful chemical preservatives. It also improves the emollience (the 'feel good' factor) of the cream.

Xanthan Gum (and) Lecithin (and) Sclerotium Gum (and) Pullulan - Patented optimised combination of phospholipids and polysaccharides, this is a natural stabiliser gelling agent that leaves an amazing silicone-like skin feel.

It is a preservative-free, ecofriendly, foolproof gelling agent with amazing silicone-like skin feel & texture and 100% natural origin. Also, serves as a thickener, co-emulsifier, stabilizer, suspending agent and skin feel enhancer. This green processed ingredient shows high compatibility with electrolytes.

This senso-active functional ingredient improves active ingredient efficacy and offers skin hydration for true active textures. It provides softness properties demonstrating highly attractive sensory identity. It brings hydration for a 100% active base and reinforces the protective barrier which decreases TEWL and therefore helps keep the skin moisturized.

•D-alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E) - All emulsions made with vegetable oils have the potential to go rancid. For this reason d-alpha tocopherol is used as it’s an in vitro antioxidant.

Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) -Nicotinamide, also known as niacinamide, is a form of vitamin B3 that offers numerous benefits for skin health.

Key Benefits of Nicotinamide for Skin:

  • Enhances Skin Barrier Function. Nicotinamide helps build keratin, a protein essential for maintaining skin health. It strengthens the skin's lipid barrier, which locks in moisture and protects against environmental irritants, making it beneficial for all skin types, particularly those with conditions like eczema and rosacea.
  • Reduces Inflammation. This ingredient is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help calm redness and irritation associated with acne, rosacea, and other inflammatory skin conditions. By reducing inflammation, nicotinamide can improve overall skin tone and texture.
  • Minimizes Pore Appearance. While it does not physically reduce pore size, nicotinamide can help minimize their appearance by keeping the skin smooth and regulating oil production, which prevents clogged pores and breakouts.
  • Treats Acne. Nicotinamide has been shown to be effective in treating acne vulgaris. Clinical studies indicate that topical nicotinamide gel can be as effective as traditional topical antibiotics in reducing acne lesions. Additionally, it decreases sebum production, which contributes to acne development.
  • Addresses Hyperpigmentation. Research suggests that formulations containing 5% nicotinamide can lighten dark spots and improve skin tone over time. This effect is attributed to increased collagen production and improved skin texture.
  • Protects Against Sun Damage. Nicotinamide enhances the skin's ability to repair DNA damage caused by UV exposure and may reduce the risk of certain types of skin cancer in high-risk individuals. However, it should not be used as a substitute for sunscreen.
  • Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles. Topical application of nicotinamide has been linked to improvements in fine lines and wrinkles due to its ability to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity. Studies have reported significant improvements in signs of aging after consistent use over several weeks.
  • Increases Hydration. Nicotinamide helps reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL), thereby increasing hydration levels in the upper layers of the skin. This makes it particularly beneficial for dry or dehydrated skin types.

Natpro progesterone cream is free from any toxic substances, including growth hormones commonly found in contemporary animal products. It also excludes parabens, such as grapefruit seed extract. Rest assured, you are safeguarded.

  • The progesterone found in Natpro is identical to what your body produces naturally. 'Progesterone Ph. Eur. USP JP' primarily originates from stigmasterol, a type of steroidal sapogenin. Phytosterols, which are chemically akin to cholesterol found in animals, serve as the foundation for the hormones that are synthesized naturally in animals, including humans. Various plants such as soybean, Dioscorea yams, fenugreek, sisal, calabar bean, certain lilies, yucca, some species of Solanum, maize, and others are rich in phytosterols. Among these, you'll find stigmasterol, diosgenin, sitosterol, campesterol, hecogenin, smilagenin, sarsasapogenin, and solasodine. Given that these sterols share a similar molecular structure with progesterone, they are utilized as precursors in the progesterone synthesis process. In the southern United States, the sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is often colloquially referred to as a yam, as are some edible varieties within the aroid family, though these do not contain any sapogenins. It’s important to distinguish Natpro progesterone cream from extracts derived from beans or yams, as such extracts do not contain progesterone.

  • Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a 'medium chain' triglyceride sourced from fractionated vegetable fatty acids, specifically extracted from coconut oil. This substance is colourless, with a neutral odour and taste, and boasts a low viscosity. It exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation, making it an ideal carrier for progesterone due to its ability to penetrate the skin effectively and facilitate absorption. Importantly, it doesn’t leave a greasy residue and aids in moisture retention. Additionally, it is worth noting that it is not a mineral oil and is unrefined.

A closer look:

  1. Mineral oils, classified as petrochemicals, pose potential risks as they act as endocrine disruptors. They deplete your body of essential oil-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, depriving you of crucial nutrients. Always avoid using any skincare products that contain mineral oils.
  2. Heating or refining any vegetable oil leads to degradation. The beneficial "cis" fatty acids present in vegetable oils are transformed into harmful "trans" fatty acids, resulting in a highly carcinogenic substance. AVOID using refined oils.
  • Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol) - Emulsions created with vegetable oils are prone to rancidity. To combat this issue, dl-alpha tocopherol is incorporated as an 'in vitro' antioxidant. While standard formulations include just 0.1%, Natpro progesterone cream boasts an additional 0.2%.
  • Introducing a groundbreaking two-part emulsifier system, cetearyl olivate/sorbitan olivate—a distinctive natural PEG-free organic emulsifier derived from olive oil. This formulation minimizes skin water loss, delivers exceptional moisturizing benefits, is hypoallergenic, and effectively mimics the skin's natural properties.
  • Aspen bark extract, an innovative natural organic preservative system, is a remarkable find as it serves as an effective natural alternative to widely used harmful chemical preservatives like parabens. Additionally, it enhances the emollience, contributing to the 'feel good' factor of the cream.
  • de-ionized water - this is a pure pharmaceutical grade standard

The correct Progesterone Concentration

When selecting a progesterone cream, it is essential to ensure it contains the appropriate concentration of progesterone.

The concentration of progesterone in various creams ranges from 1.5% to 20% For instance, a cream with 1.5% concentration delivers 15mg of progesterone per gram (g) or millilitre (ml), while a 10% cream provides 100mg per gram (g) or millilitre (ml). Therefore, the necessary dose of cream must be considered based on the required amount of progesterone to alleviate symptoms. Natpro, specifically, is a 3.3% cream, offering 33.3mg per gram or millilitre.

It is crucial to examine the ingredients in the cream, as many contain estrogenic properties, such as grapefruit seed extract. Additionally, although the label may indicate that the cream is natural, it often includes chemical preservatives.
